I fish for food, and we eat everything I catch. Not quite sport, and not
quite commercial.

Part of what I like about fishing is tying knots and working with line.
Knitting now satisfies many of those knotting urges and now at the end of an
evening of playing with string I end up with a pair of socks rather than a
thousand halibut rigs. Turns out that actually, I only need one halibut rig
and 999 of them were wasted. Seems to be more demand for socks than for
halibut rigs.

Aaron, I see a fisherman, knitting in a pub here......relating tall
fishing tales.

I also love fish, but I am also very careful, and want to know where the
fish came from. No farmed fish is eaten in this family. Never ate any
fish from the great lakes either. Getting it right of the boat even
before the lines are tied up is the right way in my book.

Good points Donna, and so true!

For my charity group I've always recommended acrylic for donated items.
Hospitals prefer them so that they can be washed (hot) and germs can be
killed by chemicals they have to use on sometimes in rooms. When I receive
wool items they are given to a charity for the homeless. They love them!

Loads of hugs,
Melody

I was keeping quiet about all of this but agree 100% about using
acrylic yarn for a number of my afghans and lapghans that I donate to
charity. I know most charities/nursing homes wash in hot water and I
don't want my work wasted.

I also enjoy using wool but like most people only use it when I know
the person who is receiving it has the time to wash it and dry it
properly. I know my mother-in-law loves wool and have had to tell her
that I don't have time or energy myself to deal with the washing and
maintaining a wool sweater.

OK that's my comments on this.

Noreen you are always friendly and supportive.

Anne,
I agree, she did have some good ideas, it was her TONE and looking down her
nose that just "got" to me.
I use the good stuff for home and family as well, I use acrylics for the
afghans I make for charities and for the ones I sell, as well as the
scarves I sell.
My new DGS's afghans are high quality acrylic, as Kelley and Pokey ASKED
for them to be easy care.
Hugs,
Noreen

Ahem, that tone was me standing up for myself against a gaggle of
highly inflamed women.

Me? Anyone here would tell you I'm one of the nicest people here.
I think it's sad when someone tell someone to take knitting needles out of

Noreen

Please let your mom know that my hand is pretty good most of the time.
It sometimes is a little stiff but at least I have been able to get
back to doing all the crafts that I love so much.

Now I have problems with my knee and am waiting to get into see a
specialist to see if I need knee surgery. Just when things were
looking good I decide to fall and reinjure my knee.

Please let your mom know that I think about her after.

As for this group most are very friendly and supportive.

I will tell her, Darlene! YOU have been much inspiration to her, as I copy
notes like yours and others and read them to her when we talk on the phone.
I think it's a really good sign on her part that she's remembering to voice
her concerns for others now...
NOT that I'd say she was 'selfish'... that's not what I mean... I guess I'm
trying to say that her depression DID kinda keep her focused on herself,
and now that she's doing better, the focus is less on HER and again on
others around her.

Now I have problems with my knee and am waiting to get into see a

OOOOHHH! If it's not one thing it's another! It goes without saying, but
I will say it anyway, prayers going out for you, and here's a H U G!!

Please let your mom know that I think about her after.

I will, and please know that I think of YOU, and now SHE does too!!
