Fan Pulls - custom order?
Speaking only for myself, I don't mind custom orders when they will be a
vehicle for moving my art forward. I recently accepted a commission for four very unusual pieces, primarily because I enjoy a challenge and it would take me in a direction (artistically) that I'd been too busy (lazy) to go on my own. LOL! The price would depend upon who was doing the work. I found your post VERY interesting, as one of the new directions I've been going with my work is architectural lampwork... Fixtures, tiles, knobs... In fact, I just got the stuff I needed to make a fan pull for my own use. If I ever get around to it. LOL! Good luck! -- Tink www.blackswampglassworks.com Sign Up Now For Fall Workshops! Hollows, Vessels & Florals... "Alison" wrote in message ... Okay, I know from lurking about the group that custom orders aren't popular with most of the artists that hang out here. Perhaps I over-read that, though? I want fan pulls for the two fans in my kitchen. My kitchen is done in varying shades of grey-blue, with brushed nickel accents. I don't want to search ebay (I'm not against buying it on ebay, I just could use some help finding it), and I'd like to support one of you cool chicks (or dudes). I think my only constraints a a) I don't care for bumpy beads; b) I think I'd like a construct with a substantial focal but also with a few supporting/accent beads; and c) I'd like the two pulls to match. So, any suggestions? What should I expect to spend on such a thing? TIA, Alison |

What size hole/mandrel would be right to put one of those ball chains
through? Tina "Tink" wrote in message ... Speaking only for myself, I don't mind custom orders when they will be a vehicle for moving my art forward. Not necessarily. I found some smaller diameter ball chain that will fit
through beads made on a 3/32" mandrel. Unfortunately, the supplier I got it from is not going to carry it anymore, but they were nice enough to look it up and it is still available.....they just didn't tell me who from! I tried some with the smaller diameter chain, and (for me) it just didn't
feel right in my hand. I'm sure it would work though. Just a "me" quirk :-) Here is a good supplier: http://www.ballchain.com/ -- Tink www.blackswampglassworks.com Sign Up Now For Fall Workshops! Just a "me" quirk :-) SOI - don't run the CHAIN through the ball.... make a post like you would a pendant (wire wrap) - you can even put a cute little dangle off the end - Like QUEEN BECKI does for all her pendants. Just attach the chain to the top.... bingo - no chain size problems ! Cheryl of A HREF="http://www.dragonbeads.com" DRAGON BEADS /A Flameworked beads and glass http://www.dragonbeads.com/ |

I can make a couple and post them on my website for you to look at next week, if you'd like. -- -Kalera --------- http://www.beadwife.com auctions at http://www.snurl.com/1sfe |

Lois Unfortunately, you may not be able to use that size anyway because the chain that comes with the fans is larger, and the connectors don't adapt from one size to another. -- -Kalera --------- http://www.beadwife.com auctions at http://www.snurl.com/1sfe |
