Hallelujiah Kate - wonderful that you are back with us safe and sound!
Sorry to hear about the mess of your house and wish we could all drop
over with mops and buckets!

Oh Kate, welcome back!!! Sounds awful, but like you said, by comparison,
you made it through just fine. It's so good to hear from you again!

What wonderful news, Kate, to hear that you're alright and that your
damage is comparatively minimal! Welcome back!

Hey Everyone:

After 38 days away from home because of the hurricanes I am finally
back on line. I now have electricity, phone and water. ....cut...
I didn't lose my stash and am so happy. My Hinterberg frame will be up
in the next couple weeks so I get back to quilting. I have to put my
home back together before I can think of quilting but that won't be
long.

I am so grateful to be back home, back on line and catching up on
quilting news.

Thanks everyone for the Welcome Back and yes if you want to come by
with a mop and bucket your are welcome to join in all the cleaning.
Oh!!!! do you do windows too, H-u-m-m-m.

You know I do need some help and maybe you all can come up with an
answer for me. I have a 7.2 cubic feet freezer and it was completey
full. The insurance company wants to know "How many pounds of food" I
lost. I've called the appliance store where I bought the freezer and
they couldn't tell me. Could you call around to you appliance stores
and ask. I sure could use the help on this one. The insurance
adjuster said he wanted to know how many pounds of meats, vegetables,
milk products, condiments, etc. In otherwords just list the 5 food
groups and list how many pounds each. I am not going to open the
freezer and look at what was in there.

Hey Polly, you got any homemade ham biscuits, I'm sick of hamburgers
and fried chicken. Red beans and rice would be good too. And those
MRE's are not what they are cracked up to be. YUK!!!

Again thanks for the welcome back I really feel at home now.

We have an upright freezer which is 20" wide x 20" deep x 52" tall and it
holds roughly half a cow when completely full (about 130 - 140kg). Can you
figure out the cubicness from that? and maybe estimate?

Hope it helps

I just LOVE red beans and rice. Those MRE's are only okay for about one
day, though. We'll keep praying, and you hang in there. I'll ask my math
wiz hubby about the pounds of food your freezer will hold.

On 9 Oct 2005 20:16:46 -0700, "Kate T." announced she was back home.

Glad to see you here again. I hope the stink is gone and the clean up
is going fairly well. I know it's a lot of work. I'm so sorry about
your trees and equally glad your quilting stuff survived.

Here is Bob's estimate, Kate.

150# of meat
25# of fruit
50# of veggies
50# of flour

He said that is a reasonable contents estimate for the insurance. Hope it
helps!

Just in case you don't understand the part about 50# of flour, I would have
forgotten that one and it certainly must be considered. I keep flour, corn
meal, grits, oats, cake flour, special stone ground meal, and all sorts of
grain things in our freezer. Haven't found a critter yet that could heave
the freezer door open and establish residence. Polly
