See photo at http://www.orcadian.co.uk -- Bruce Fletcher Stronsay, Orkney Just for the record, Bruce, what temperature is "bitterly cold"? About 0 degrees Celsius (32F). Fortunately there was no wind to make it feel even colder. When the sun rose just before 9 am this morning (Tuesday) the fields behind us were "white over" and the car windscreen was covered in ice, it's only about the second time we've seen that since coming here 3 years ago. You can see Orkney "live" via some webcams at http://www.visitorkney.com/webcams.asp and observe the winter solstice at Maeshowe (built 2750 BC) via webcams at http://www.maeshowe.co.uk Bruce |
