Default To the boro bead fans (market research)

It rained yesterday so I spent most of the day inside. One of my "chores"
was sorting, cutting and labelling some new boro colors I bought way back in
June. It got me to thinking....

Most of the boro beads I've made have had some or a lot of light in
them....spaces with transparency someplace or other. Same goes for a lot of
boro beads by other artists. These seem to be really good sellers, too.
But....is there a market for more opaque, color-right-on-the-surface beads?
I have a bunch of cool solid colors and I'm trying to decide whether to just
use them as small accents or whether to go all out and make really
color-intense beads. My personal bias is towards color AND light, but I know
it's not a good thing to get locked in.

So, whaddya all think?

I think your instincts are right on. I love the interplay of light and
color in your boro beads. And considering the wide variety of your recent
beads, I don't think you truly need to worry about getting locked in!

I prefer the ones with transparency, myself.....

For me, personally, it's all about color and light. I seldom buy opaque
beads.

For me it's all about color. Try different approaches and see what kinds of
feedback you receive.

locked in??? you???
**sigh** have you looked at the VARIETY on your e-bay site lately???

LOL thank you for the reality check (and Elise, too). To me it feels like
I'm doing the same old thing, but I guess it's really thingS.

I rewarded myself by obsessing over silver foil yesterday afternoon. Damn
fine stuff! I made the DUH! discovery that a lot of the coloring is just the
rubino and silver reacting, and here I'd thought that the ivory I use
underneath was more mission-critical. Lots of others knew this, it was a
lightbulb moment for me. I got the result over ivory so I just stuck with
that. Off to swat myself with a 2x4.

After I list auctions....the beads came out great (just peeked). Film (and
listings) at 11.

THAT is exactly what drew me to glass in the first place! I was having fun
with polyclay, but it's all opaque and that got to be frustrating. Now, if
only someone could come up with a substance that you could color-mix like
clay but be transparent like glass. If only!

Those are really nice, and remind me of the conclusion that I came to
recently; it's not that I don't care for boro, it's that I don't care
for the same-old boro look that you see everywhere. I like a lot of the
"out of the box" boro I've seen lately.
