If you want to make your own crayons, how can you predict which materials
are likely to have this undesirable property?

I can't help wondering why anyone would bother making
their own crayons - one of the cheapest of cheap
art materials.

Do a google search for "how to make crayons", as I did, and you'll see
some of the creative ideas people have for making crayons and some of
the reasons they have for making them.

Start with web site of Binney & Smith's Crayola®

http://www.crayola.com/

Been there, done that.
