Does anybody here have a whatchamacallit for holding quilts while
being photographed. I've seen professional 'frames' in some
magazines, but does anyone have a home-made/cheap solution?

They're both great, Joan! As for the whatchamacallit, I don't have
one. The only ones I've seen are too expensive for my taste. :S

Not exactly cheap, but if you're going to display quilts fairly often this
is a really nice stand.
http://www.iconusa2.com/online/PORT-A-STAND.htm Google the Savage
Port-a-stand and see what prices you can find. I bought a couple for my
guild for $99. each including the carrying bag. They are great.

That's exactly the sort of thing I'd love to have, Kathyl! I just can't
see paying $100+. :S

Let's see....would it be reasonable if you called it a portable design wall?
You could run the top pipe through a flannel sheet hem and have a design
wall. Hang laundry on it? Ummmm what else? Just trying to justify it for
you. you're welcome..... :-)

LOL! Thanks, Kathyl. Maybe I'll hit a big hand at the casino one day
and feel like splurging. G

My guild has several of the port a stands. I never thought about it but
I could bring one home from a meeting and use it if I needed to.

A good fundraiser for guilds could be a member that is good at
photographing (or even maybe a pro) could take photos of members
quilts for a fee.

There was an article on photographing quilts in a QNM some time ago.
THey might have had some good ideas. Boy, I feel old an forgetful
some days.
