building material
I see most people use plywood for their houses. It makes no difference to me
from the point of view of machining but it seems for my house, which will have no exposed timber, that mdf board would give a better painted finish. Is their any particular reason not to use it? Cheers Glen |

The negative I have heard is that because the material is very hard, it's difficult to tapwire if you use brads because the brads don't go in easily. Add to that the fact that MDF is mainly dust and glue, and you don't have a very durable product, IMO. Particularly when compared to a good quality plywood, like birch. For my money, I'd rather spend a little more and get a material that is used by cabinetmakers for its durability, structural integrity, uniformity and overall quality, over the MDF. -- Chuck *#:^) chaz3913(AT)yahoo(DOT)com Anti-spam sig: please remove "NO SPAM" from e-mail address to reply.
