Horrible Traverse Drapery Rods!
Can anyone please tell me how to adjust a traverse rod so that the
pulls actually work. My mother has an extremely long and heavy set of drapes that required the longest "double-opening" (?) rod (the kind that pulls the right drapery to the right and the left to the left). It just doesn't work, and my mom insists there's a way to "thread" the pulls so that the rod works. I'd also like to know what to do when one of the rod supports (those things that look like a cupped hand extending from the wall midway) seems "warped." The right drape always "stops" when it reaches the right wall support. Thanks for posts or email. Jean |

The folks there can show you how to re-string the cording, possibly do it for a small charge, and can suggest a remedy for the ornery support. They may suggest installing additional wall brackets (supports) for such a long rod. With long heavy drapes, it needs additional brackets to carry the load, and they need to be mounted into the wall studs. Cea |

Thanks! I'll see if Reader's Digest has an online archive (and I'm glad to hear yours work, because I didn't throw the old rod I foolishly thought was broken out!). |
