Here is a report about a quilt found in a charity
thrift store. It was signed by President of the USA,
Rutherford Hayes, and other renown Americans of the
era. Why can't I ever find these things? LOL

Check it out at HGTV.

That is a cool story Pat. Amazing what folks will have no use for.
At least that one wasn't thrown on a trash pile. Wow.

What an incredible find. The article didn't say who found it or how much
they paid for the quilt, but I am sure that its value wasn't discovered
until the person took it home and started looking at it in detail. Thank
goodness they didn't just throw it into the washer and dryer! The person had
to have some quilt savvy.

Fascinating! It's amazing that this quilt was simply dropped off at the
thrift shop, but how wonderful that someone there recognized the names
and realized that the quilt was important.

The impression it got is that the President's signature
was discovered AT the Thrift Shop, so the Charity knew
pretty quickly that it had a valuable item. I am so
glad it worked that way, as the Shop benefits a
Children's Hospital. Not to brag, but I would notice
stuff like that. I really like American History. I like
World History, too, but know more about AH.
