We've just had our first actual bead injury requiring actual medical
treatment this afternoon. I'm feeling rather punk, so I was sleeping when

DD
woke me up. "Mama, wake up -- K. just got hurt with a bead. We need

you."

I went into the living room to discover K. looking sheepish and holding

one
ear. According to the girls, K was doing her hair and a bead "just

happened
to fly into her ear."

Damn those flying beads.

I looked in the kid's ear, and realized that this was something I didn't

want
to attempt. She had taken her finger and shoved the bead in so deeply

that I
could barely see it. (No, I don't know what kind of bead it was; and I

really
don't want it back)

The girl's mother is an RN in a pediatrician's office, so after calling

the
mom to tell her of the horrible tragedy, I dropped the girl off at her

Mom's
work. Mom was half laughing that she'd never live it down at work, since

it's
usually three year olds that have things stuck in their ears. K. is almost
fourteen and is darned close to six feet tall.

I think I'm blaming Ken or Zeebree. heh, heh, heh.
