Default Bernina 830

Can any one advise me if it is worth having a Bernina 930 serviced. I
have been given one to keep, but the machine has not been used for
many years. It looks in very good condition and has many attachments.
Or should I trade it against a new toyota machine. I have no sewing
experience, but would like to start making some simple clothes and
home furnishings. Any help would be very much appreciated. Sue

You have 830 in your header and 930 in you message
field. I have owned both and I wouldn't hesitate to spend
money to have them serviced. I just spent under $100 to
service my 930 and it is so happy. The 830 does not have
any stretch stitches but the 930 does. You don't see many
of either for sale because often when folks get a newer machine
they won't get rid of these models. Take a look at the completed
auctions on Ebay to see just how much these machine do go for.

A Bernina 930 is one of those machines that those who have used one covet. It's
definitely worth getting it serviced!

I have a Bernina 730 that I've owned for over 35 years....maybe more. Have to
look at the manual.
BUT.....be assured......the Bernina will have NO plastic parts....and will last
as long as you do.
I'm 77....and plan to leave it to my daughter....she has a more recent machine
(not a Bernina) and there is NOTHING like an old Bernina....or, any Bernina.

Sorry I confused the matter it is an 830 that I have. It does work ok
and all the fancy stiches work, but I had a few problems with the
tension. I had someone look over it for me and they said it was very
clean and did not need a service just yet. I am very pleased with it,
but need to become more familar with all the different feet and
stitches.

Thank you all for responding and have a great Christmas.

Kind regards
Sue
