Curing wood/Thanks for input
A methods for quick curing green wood I have used sucessfully:
Tie it and let it run under a fast flowing stream or on the beach to a pier if you live by the coast. Salt water is better but running water really does it in less that a quarter of the time. Alternatively like the previous fellow said: Carve green wood and then cover it with a few coats of PVA or plastic water based glue until it goes clear and milky after each time you carve. Pain in the arse but it saves the wood from shakes. Then when you have completed your carving, cover it with polyurethene varnish until it is covered to a good couple if mils depth. It then cant breath much the same as when you cut it down or found it. Good luck Steve Yorkshire |
