Default Newsgroups Reader?

I got a new laptop with Vista last week and now can't get to the
newsgroup via Outlook. Called Comcast three times and talked to 3
different people who were next to no help--not sure they even know
what the newsgroups are!! Is there any other way to read the
newsgroups besides Google?

Yay, I'm back on through Outlook and Comcast!! I finally found someone who
could really help me!! I hope it lasts. I'm almost afraid that if I log off
I'll be back to Google!! LOL

It looks as though comcast does support newsgroup access. I poked
around and found this:

http://chat-staging.comcastsupport.c...9-61408df0ec4a

Perhaps it will help? I found it by clicking on High Speed Internet
the Features and Services

starting from this page:

http://help.comcast.net/

Good luck!

have you tried going to the comcast website and searching for
newsgroup information, I've set up newsgroups with a comcast
connection more than once and each time I do the obvious things and it
doesn't work and I search and find the page that helps, but it wasn't
obviously linked that I could find, but somewhere in there was a
technical page that took me through it step by step and I had to do
the same thing for other newsreaders, it's a quirk of comcast, not
outlook I think. You need your original login and password details,
which you probably don't use for anything else.

Cheers

My new laptop came with Vista as well and I use Outlook to read my mail.
There is a button up on the menu bar that says "News". That opens Windows
mail which has the newsreader. Works great for me. Look for that button on
your laptop. HTH

I use Thunderbird. (The free email companion to the Firefox browser). But
I'm still on XP.

I've tried Outlook for groups, I much prefer Agent. I think it is
worth the money.

Thanks, Alice. For some reason (after I'd been getting on fine for about a
week) I started getting an error message that Windows Mail couldn't switch
to the server. I spoke with about 4 different people at Comcast before I
finally got one who knew about newsgroups and I'm back on without problems,
so far!!
