See below for descriptions of the following classes: - Handbag Design I - Handbag Design II - Footwear I - Embellished Pillow - Crazy Quilting Registration: 212-735-9722 Information: 212-735-9731 Location: 610 Lexington Ave, New York, NY, 10022 Corner of 53rd and Lexington Transportation: E, V, 6 trains to Lexington Ave. Handbag Design I Learn how to make either a drawstring or tote bag. Draft paper patterns for a specific size and style, shop for the appropriate materials, cut and assemble all the components with decorative hand-stitching and simple machine sewing. Course includes a buying trip to a leather vendor. Materials fee: $30 Jan Ulan 11 sessions $305 Fri. Apr. 16– Jun. 25 2:00–5:00pm 105-60470 Handbag Design II Apply your aesthetic and technical skills to create more advanced styles such as envelopes, framed bags or zippered hobo bags. Study more complex pattern-making and construction techniques. Bring all your tools and supplies to be ready to work on the first day of class. Prerequisite: Handbag Design I Jan Ulan 12 sessions $330 Wed. Apr. 7–Jun. 23 2:00–5:00pm 105-60471 Footwear I Learn how to design and construct a pair of shoes. Choose either a mule (backless shoe) or pump design for the first project. A trip to a leather vendor is included. Emily Putterman 10 sessions $290 Sun. Apr. 18–Jun. 27 10:00am–1:00pm 105-60472 Thu. Apr. 8– Jun. 24 10:00am–1:00pm 105-60473 (No class on May 30) Footwear II Build on former knowledge of shoe design and construction. Casual shoes like oxfords and loafers are covered. Prerequisite: Footwear I. Materials fee: $15 Emily Putterman 10 sessions $290 Sun. Apr. 18–Jun. 27 2:00–5:00pm 105-60474 (No class on May 30) Embellished Pillow What better way to use your left-over material than to make interesting pillows or sculptures? Focussing on the re-use of materials, students will learn techniques of sewing, montage, and sequencing withfound objects and fabric. Bring found objects, your favorite fabrics, needles, thread/string, trim and notion, and needle nose pliers to the first class. Laura Mazzorana 6 sessions $180 Thu. Jul. 15–Aug. 19 6:00–9:00pm 105-90787 Crazy Quilting The Victorian Crazy was made with a collection of elegant fabrics sewn to a muslin foundation, held together with hand embroidery stitches and all kinds of embellishments. Learn how to create your own one-of-a-kind masterpiece. All sewing will be done by hand.
