Default buying fine pins?

My straight pins are rough and old. ( So are my hands but that's beside the
point.) I fell in love with a Jewel Box quilt at the Biloxi quilt show and
knew I needed to make one of red, white and blue for a Wounded Warriors
quilt. I need long, thin, sharp flat-head pins. You'd understand if you
saw how many HSTs there are to match in this quilt. Obviously it's been a
while since I've pin shopped. Anyone here bought some recently that were
fine? Polly

Many years ago I took a class doing Balitmore applique. The teacher had some
'lace pins' that were I think long and fine. It may be what you are after.

Thank you so much, Dee. Maybe 'lace' is the magic word. NOT that I'm
inclined to try making lace. No reason to do that when it can be done
better by others. =) I'll do a tenacious search and see what lace pins
turns up. Polly

Another that I've heard referred to often are 'silk' pins. Supposedly
very fine. Not sure how long or if they are available in flat head.
But might be another alternative for you. Good luck.

I looked at pins recently and could not believe how many choices there
were..too many for me to decide. I have a box of quilters pins I bought many
years ago to use for sewing. They have served me well but will need to be
replaced soon. I guess I want long, thin, sharp pins too, so will be
interested in learning what you choose.

Iris pins are made in Switzerland: 1-1/4"long, extra-fine, don't leave
holes in fine fabrics and don't bend either! HofP stock them - 400pins for
$6.50.... you could also search for Iris pins to look for other styles and
suppliers in the US. Also, look for wedding dress supplies or lingerie
pins. barnyowl

I spent a little time wandering around the net; discovered Clover makes a
long flat head they say is ultra fine for 'shear' fabrics. =) Ordered
some from shiboridragon - a new source (to me). I also set out the
CornHuskers lotion in full view so I'll remember to use it. No scent, no
oily feel but it is good stuff. Polly

Not much of a pin user myself -muist they have flat heads? My favorite
fine pins are IIRC from Clover (Japanese) and have delicate blue glass
heads. They don't melt if an iron touches them. Mostly they just give
me pleasure to look at in my little needlepoint pincushion, but
occasionally I DO need a pin.

It all started when Yogi was a wee pup. Our big old Tom kitty would
entertain Yogi by pulling pins from the pincushion or whatever I'd carefully
pinned, drop them on the floor to Yogi and they would happily crunch the
glass heads. I soon learned to guard or hide the pins. The QI kitty is
gone now and Yogi is a mature adult. Right. The fun remains. I can see a
flat head if I drop one. Most of the time I see them before Yogi does.
