$4 sounds high to me if they are stretchy magic and beads. Those seem
really easy to make. Did you put a dot of glue on all your knots? Did she wear one on either of her big toes? Pinky toe rings feel weird so that's why I'm asking. -- Starlia Klopman www.klopmanstudios.com "Kathy N-V" wrote in message . giganews.com... Manda and I were yakking, and she told me that all her friends are sporting toe rings this summer, and that they purchase them at the mall for ~$4 apiece. Then she described these $4 toe rings: a single bead on clear Stretch Magic. Of course she got the desired result: no way in heck am I going to pay (or let Manda spend money, same thing) on something we can make better and cheaper at home. So, I went to my big old bowl of one-offs and grabbed a bunch of appropriate beads - mostly florals, but there was a ladybug, a frog and a penguin bead. It took all of ten minutes to make five toe rings, which Manda wore to my sister's 40th birthday party. The beads I used are leftovers from bracelets and are mostly pressed Czech glass. I used only one bead per toe ring, and made them a little smaller than you'd normally think, because the ring goes over the fat part of your toe and onto the skinnier part. The kid loved them, and so did everyone else at the party - Manda came home minus all her toe rings. They really are cute. With the clear Stretch Magic, it looks like a single bead is magically sticking to her toe. She also reported that they were extraordinarily comfortable, and that she couldn't feet the elastic thread or the knots, which was the gotcha I was worried about. I like them, and think they look very cute with Birkies. I made the kid another dozen of them tonight, and she can give them away or wear them as she wishes. (If she tries to wear them with toe socks and Birkies, I'll probably have to protest) Kathy N-V |

Idea for all those leftover single beads
That is just the best idea!! I wear flip-flops (thongs, whatever) 90% of the time,
and I've always wanted to wear toe rings. Thanks for the idea of how to use the rest of the Stretch Magic i bought...lol. -- Jalynne - Keeper of the Quilt for ME club list Queen Gypsy (snail mail available upon request) see what i've been up to at www.100megsfree4.com/jalynne "Kathy N-V" wrote in message . giganews.com... Let's see, can we say Hootchi Mama? tongue in cheek

It's an expensive mall, and this store (whose name escapes me) caters to teens spending their parents' money. Lots of overpriced pretzel shops and pricey clothing stores catering to teens. I gave my niece a $50 gift certificate to that mall last year, and she claimed that she couldn't find anything for that little money. (so sad, too bad. Guess you'd better get a job) I did put a dab of nail polish on all the knots to weld them, and trimmed off the ends once the nail polish was dry. To test how they feel, I just put one on each of my toes. Except for the one that is way too small (oops), I can't feel these things at all. I have one on my big toe as well, and it doesn't feel like anything is there. I look extremely odd, wearing a nightgown, no shoes and ten toe rings. Kathy N-V |

Thanks Kathy! What a great idea! I have two with rhinestones and the stretch
cord that I bought at the flea market for $8 each. I wear them all the time cause they're just so comfortable, but I'm getting tired of the same ones all the time. I've got tons of beads that would be perfect for toe rings and I can't wait to try a few. Dawn |

I have no idea where the original posts are, so I'm piggy backing here, and
responding to the subject line .....ideas for single beads. My toes are so wide, I don't want to add anything to them. And with temps dipping below 40F, toe rings won't work when I have to put my feet into anything. Single beads are great for zipper pulls on parkas. I used one to replace a lid knob that broke.
