bead magazines survey
I just got done filling out the survey someone posted here and was wondering
how others feel about the bead magazines that are currently out there. I find most of them have too many beginner projects and not enough interest for an advanced beader like myself. I think Lapidary Journal has been really getting thin and doesn't have near what it used to have. I have been very disappointed in most to the bead magazines out there. Button and Bead has really started to get much better then it used to be and is growing with good projects but still find that most of the things are for beginners and not enough creative things for someone like myself. How do you feel about this. Roxan |

I agree. I'm also annoyed by that fact that I have to flip through ever
single page to find all the projects. The table of contents rarely has descriptive titles. I think they should have an index in them, with pics of the products, and skill level ranking; I'd rather be beading that browsing a magazine, LOL. WAJ kinda does this, but they have a lot less projects in each issue. -- Kyla "Just remember...if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off." "roxan" wrote in message ... WAJ? What magazine is that?

Wire Artist Jeweler. It's pretty cool, but I do wish there were more
projects in each one (but, then, that's always the case ;o) -- Kyla "Just remember...if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off." "grenner" wrote WAJ? What magazine is that? Thanks |

I agree that Lapidary Journal, which used to be one of my faves, has gone down
in quality. LJ also publishes a magazine called "Colored Stone". Is anyone familiar with that? Patti |

Yes I have seen it but don't subscribe to it. Good magazine though.

I agree - too many beginner projects and not enough variety. Also, too many
ads - I know the mags need the money, but they need to balance that out by including more articles. I would like more info on the history of beads, jewelry fashion, etc. -- Kandice Seeber Air & Earth Designs http://www.lampwork.net I just got done filling out the survey someone posted here and was wondering how others feel about the bead magazines that are currently out there. Yes - they used to have lampworking techniques and such as well. Now it's
mostly advertising. I subscribed a year ago, but I don't think I will be renewing. Their new Step By Step Beads magazing is okay - but still beadweaving and project driven - there are so many mags just like that out, I was hoping their's would be more about Beadmaking than bead stringing and weaving. -- Kandice Seeber Air & Earth Designs http://www.lampwork.net I agree that Lapidary Journal, which used to be one of my faves, has gone down in quality. |

I would like more info on the history of beads, jewelry fashion, etc. And it seems to me -- at least lately -- that some of the projects aren't completely hashed out, either. The design, if not the technical aspects. They just seem ---- almost embarrassingly amateurish. ~~ Sooz ------- "Those in the cheaper seats clap. The rest of you rattle your jewelry." I agree that Lapidary Journal, which used to be one of my faves, has gone
down in quality. It really has. You have to really search for any editorial (non-advertising) content. ~~ Sooz ------- "Those in the cheaper seats clap. The rest of you rattle your jewelry."
