Default auto-off iron solution

Hi, folks. I just discovered, quite by chance, how to eliminate the
auto shut-off on a Rowenta iron while quilting or doing other crafts.
I recently bought a Rowenta ironing board at Sam's for $30 and I love
it!!!! The ironing surface is probably not any longer because there
is a stainless steel iron holder on the end, but it has a wider
surface that is just dandy. Now, the holder extension has a hole in
it for the iron to set on. I couldn't really figure out if I should
just rest the iron face down over the hole, then I tried to set the
iron in a 45 degree angle with the sole resting down in and the
pointed end sticking out the top. Well, this Rowenta iron has an auto
shut-off if the iron is in an upright or horizontal position longer
than about 10 seconds./ This can be a real pain while going back and
forth from the sewing machine and having to wait for a reheat. Well,
I found that in this tilted position in the hole of the new board, it
does NOT shut off!!!! I don't know if this works with other brands
but its worth a try. I thought the board was a great deal cause it
includes a pad and cover, those alone can be quited pricey. Hope
this helps someone. kathy

Hi Kathy,
I too have the rodenta with auto shut off...and my ironing board has a slot
that keeps my iron at a 45% angle, also. But mine does still shut off. I
thought if it was kept flat maybe it wouldn't, so I got one of those
silicone pads, and it still shuts off...but so far for me, it has been a
good thing, cause, I keep forgetting to unplug it. Mine does go back on if
it is moved slightly though.

You have a Rodenta? Wow. Does it have a pointy tail, and big front teeth?
