Mitered borders
muse9 wrote:
I am finally finishing up my first (very) small quilt and ready to do the border. I have read several different articles on mitered borders and *think* I understand it. I just have one question: should the border material be one long piece of fabric or a seperate one for each side of the quilt. I had just kind of assumed that if it was all the same fabric that it was one long piece, even though you do have to piece it to get it long enough. However, I have read a couple of articles that used a separate piece for each side, still mitering the corners. Is there a preferred method and does it matter? Borders or binding? For borders I use this method: http://www.geocities.com/quiltfrenzy/miter.html For binding I use this method: http://www.mccallsquilting.com/lessons/binding/ HTH Lizzy -- Lizzy Taylor Heywood, Lancashire, UK 53:36:00N 2:06:00E http://www.thetaylorfamily.org.uk |
