When you take a quilt.... part 2
Now the next question:
Do you feel that the quality and workmanship of your quilts are as good as those in your LQS (or your quilt teacher's) yet? |

Workmanship? Very nearly.
Design quality? No, though I can see improvement. --Lia rjwhite6 wrote: Now the next question: Do you feel that the quality and workmanship of your quilts are as good as those in your LQS (or your quilt teacher's) yet? |

I know I could do better if I fussed more. But I'm doing it for the joy of doing it, and to hell with anyone's judgement of it, except my own. The only time I care what anyone else thinks is if it is for someone else. Then I'll fuss more, and sacrifice my own taste for their preferences (but only as far as I can stand it). -georg |

If the project is up on the wall I will compare, but I can see how much I
have progressed. I must have something to aspire to. I strive to perfect the technique not necessarily have a perfect quilt. -- Sugar & Spice Quilts by Linda E http://community.webshots.com/user/frame242 |

Never gave it a thought, Ron!
Honestly, quilts are like comparing apples and oranges. One of the most interesting things *is* this difference. I'm sure the LQS find it fascinating to see how different each person's quilts are, even if a similar pattern was used. Just as an example: look how different the various YBR pattern quilts, which our friends here have shown us, are. Quilts are all so different, and the demands of each are so different. I think they can only be judged like they do in dog shows - look at the quilt and see how it compares with the 'standard' of the techniques it uses. That being said: I could never do that, and I just look at the overall beauty. I'm sure the LQS do that too. They might have someone checking behind a mirror or from a CCTV camera just to make sure you have got all your points matching etc, but I seriously doubt it g .. Louisiana, like the other 49 States, has strict laws against this
violence behavior. As it well should! So leave those kidlets alone, regardless of how they quilt. PAT in VA/USA Polly Esther wrote: No. I did see a few entries by some ten year-olds at the New Orleans show that I could whip. Polly |
