Quilting a flipnsew crazy quilt
You know the technique (start with a pentagon shape of fabric on top of
muslin-in the middle, then add a strip right sides together, flip, press, trim -keep on going til the square of muslin is full. Well, I have many of these blocks made by using up scraps. Now I don't know what to do with them...ok ok no begging...Has anyone actually quilted one of these? Any ideas? I know the real crazy quilts are usually tied, but I want this quilted. I wouldn't try to hand quilt, but you can do it on the machine. Use a very
thin batt or no batt -flannel might be good. (Whether you want a batt kind of depends on how many lumpy seams you need to camouflage.) I've done several of these. Recommend joining the blocks with a narrow sashing to help with the lumpy seam problem. Roberta in D "Cathy Kulibert" wrote in message ... Are you going to hand or machine quilt?
1. Allover meander is always nice. 2. This is a GREAT opportunity to practice your free-motion machine quilting. Do a row of daisies, another of grass, another of stars, another of feathers, a few rows of teacups -- whatever you've been wanting to practice. The quilt itself is probably so busy the quilting will barely show. -- Sylvia Steiger RN, homeschooling mom since Nov 1995 http://www.SteigerFamily.com Cheyenne WY, USDA zone 5a, Sunset zone 1a Home of the Wyoming Wind Festival, January 1-December 31 Remove "removethis" from address to reply |
