Chain Patterns?
"Charles" wrote in message
... Hi everyone, I am trying to find a book or resource that shows how to make different chain patterns, such as "Queen's Link", "Byzantine", etc. Does anyone know of such a book? Thank you. Great Wire Jewelry by Irene Peterson http://snurl.com/27c7 |

You will most likely be able to find a bunch of different weaves if you looked through some of the chainmail web sites out there (yes, the armor). You'd probably be astounded by how many different weaves of both sheet and chain are out there, and there are sites that have step-by-step instructions as well. since you're looking for chains, I've seen/know Byzantine/Birdcage (with over a dozen variants on the basic pattern), Box, Spiral, "Persian" weaves (exotic look to them - 3-in-1 half, 4-in-1, 6-in-1 full . . .), and Serpent's Spine (massively thick depending on ring size). http://www.dcwireworks.com has some how-to pages on most of these, and if you can find the website for the Mail Artisans (it used to be http://www.mailartisans.org but it doesn't seem to work for me now), it's got pictures of hundreds of different weaves. If the picture is clear enough then usually it's possible to figure out how the weave is assembled. HTH, Mike |

Queen's Link and Byzantine are described and pictured on the wigjig site.
It undoubtedly has the best directions for these two chains I have ever seen. "Charles" wrote in message ... Hi everyone, I am trying to find a book or resource that shows how to make different chain patterns, such as "Queen's Link", "Byzantine", etc. Does anyone know of such a book? Thank you. |
