My dad always got up at the crack of dawn (farm-boy training) and on
Sundays this resulted in the smell of coffee and homemade cinnamon rolls (with butterscotch frosting) pervading the house before the rest of us woke up. When I left home for college, Sundays were very disorienting without that smell. Katherine wrote: You have him well-trained! LOL Actually, my father always cooked SUnday dinner. We would go to Mass - my mother and siblings - and Daddy would stay home and cook. It was wonderful! Katherine Trish wrote: Yeah, I worked today. Sounds yummy O, do you think a little fondle first might be in order, and
then you'd be really fired up. What stitch pattern are you planning? Love C "Ophelia" wrote in message ... " Christine in Kent, Garden of England" wrote in message ... Are you excited about it, O? Hi Lix,
I hope you are feeling better now. I have an afghan crocheted with Patons Brocade which I made from several colours of it which I got on eBay. It's lovely and soft and cuddly. I expect your sweater will be the same, and the colours are just gorgeous. I agree it's probably a fairly old yarn and it's a great shame it's no longer made. -- Sue in East Anglia, UK "Liz M" wrote in message ... Hi all, Had a quiet day, recovering from a 'tummy bug'! It is damp and drizzly here but not very cold - typical English Winter! I did housework and ironing and then got to work on a top down sweater I am making. The yarn is Patons Brocade, which is probably very old, I bought it at a charity shop. It was designated double knit but worked up very dense and tight on the recommended needles, so I swatched it on 5mm needles and it looked much better. I don't think the yarn is made any more, which is a shame - it looks like mohair variegated with some sections that look more like a fine chenille. It is synthetic. I'll post a photo when I finish. The pattern is very simple, but the yarn is good for plain knitting. I also worked on the Shedir hat from the Knitty Autumn. It's nearly finished and I may finish before bed time. This hat has been a challenge! I think I will do it again though, I love the pattern. Wishing everyone a good week Best wishes from Liz |
