Help with loom setup please
Hello. I'm relatively new to beading. I've made a few things (4 or 5
bracelets) but I'm having a problem keeping the tension consistent from row to row. Most of the warp threads will be fine but I will always end up with 2 or 3 (of 18) loose. No matter what I do, I have not been able to keep the tension even. I've tried wrapping the thread around a yard stick until I have 9 on each side. I tape them in place about 6 inches from the end of the stick, slide one end off and make a loop to attach to the spindle, then I do the same on the other end, remove the tape and start rolling the thread bundles onto the spindle on one end. When I get to the other end, and I attach to the other spindle and then tighten them up is when I find the loose threads. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. What am I actually working on? A beaded headband for my granddaughter's Halloween costume... thanks in advance Mike ps e-mail remove the nospamallowed for my e-mail addy |

I've never heard of using a yardstick, that's a new one on me. I put my
warp threads directly on the loom, working back and forth from end to end. Maybe I don't understand what kind of loom you're using? I'd be interested in hearing other folks talk about it, too. Hi Carla, I thought about that after I posted but have not had time to
get back on line since. I'm using one of those really cheap wire made looms with a spindle on each end that you can roll to make longer pieces. I'll see if I can find a pic later if you'd like.
