knitting in the Old Way
Hello friends,
I purchased the book and I love it. I purchased it in a small shop on White Water Wisconsin, about 70 miles north of me. I was in White Water seeing a friend of my sister's, she was here for Easter. She live in Memphis, TN. We were on our way back and just out of White Water we saw this little yarn Shop in a three car garage, it was full of great stuff! I saw the book there and and after browsing threw it had to purchase it. The shop is at the residence of Doreen L. Marquart. She has one book just out "Saturday Sweater", "Easy To Knit, Easy To Wear". I purchased that book also and some and an electronic row counter. Doreen is a sweet person. W9034 County Trunk A (Richmond) Delavan, WI 53113 608-883-9922 Doreen L. Marquart, Owner http://www.needlesnpinsyarnshoppe.com/ We talked untill my sister grabbed my by the arm and pulled me out of the shop. Noreen and I was talking about "Knitting in the Old Way" a while back. It is basicly a manual about knitting a sweater with out a pattern. It is a great book for the moderate or better knitter. The author is great and very knowladgable. I have knitted sweaters with out a pattern but this book is still worth putting in the library. It has a ton of knowledge. The second book is book that would be great for the person going from scarves to sweaters and that is who it is intended for. I see two I will make in it. I still like to use a pattern if I see a sweater I like, why recreate it. I also use the "SWEATER WIZARD 3.0" and I love it. It is still nice to get out the old graph paper and use a couple of measurements and knit a sweater with out a pattern. The last was a red and black sweater I did for my dear sister in Memphis, Tn. She told me the pattern she wanted knowledgeable red and black in and I made it for her. Ok enough. Hugs & God bless, Dennis & Gail |

Dennis,
I'm sorry! I know you already posted this once, and I meant to respond, but things got a little crazy... so, am responding NOW! YES, Dennis and I DID discuss Knitting in the Old Way, here on the list, awhile back. I, myself, haven't purchased the book yet, and appreciate Dennis's review of it! Hugs, Noreen -- change n e t to c o m to email/reply to me. "Spike Driver" wrote in message ... Hello friends, I purchased the book and I love it. I bought the new edition, which is expanded from the old one and has added some interesting history and more detailed information. The old one was good, I think the new edition is better. =Tamar |

Do you think an advanced knitter has use for the book, I do? I judge knitting books by how much knowledge they pass along. I think this one gets and A+! Even for the advanced knitter. Not much at all, if I remember correctly. It was almost entirely a set of instructions for knitting a sweater with steeks. Do you think an advanced knitter has use for the book, I do? This version, yes, if they are interested in more than just patterns. =Tamar |
