With great assistance and patience from you all, I am able to understand
bling and blog; have even learned hootchie mama. The next word flying
around me is 'vet'. They are vetting this and vetting that and should have
vetted the other. DH is a Korean War vet, the nice man that takes care of
our Yorkie is a vet and I'm pretty sure that neither has any kinship to the
'vet' that's abounding now. What the heck is 'vet'? Just sitting here
looking dumb, Polly

Investigating, vetting is short for investigating someone. At least I think
it is!

Howdy!

I've seen the verb "vet" for ages, in old mystery stories (Mary Roberts
Rinehart, 1910-30; Sherlock Holmes, 1880s era), movies of the 1930s & '40s,
& t.v. detectives of the 1950s & '60s.

Maybe you're just hearing it enough to notice it. g

Ask "Pat in VA". She's always "vetting" our chocolate.....or trying to!

And your word of the day today is Skainsmate.

It's hardly new, and it is in my dictionary, as well as on
dictionary.com

I first heard this word on an early episode of "West Wing" and then it seem
to turn up everywhere, especially related to political candidates and the
employee hiring process. Both "horse races" of a sort, I guess.

"Thee End" as said by my 2.5 year old
sweet Grand daughter when she decides the
conversation is over.

Oooohhh Alice! I loved West Wing and missed it terribly until I bought the
whole first year on DVD. Now I can watch it until my heart's content! It
was smart, funny, and very engaging! I love to put them on when I'm
quilting, know the scenes visually so don't have to watch, just listen!
That's where I first heard the word as well.

Dreamweaver - thought WW was never the same after Aaron Sorken stopped
writing it!!!
