Default Anyone know era quilts

Hi everyone,

I had to go to the local library yesterday to switch out a quilt. My
small group keeps one hanging behind the desk at all times and it was
time for a change.
While I was there the head Librarian came and explained they were
having a special traveling exhibit on Alexander Hamilton the end of
August. Did we have an appropriate quilt we could hang to compliment
the exhibit?
I have done a little research but did not find many quilt patterns
used during the time period. Anyone know????

Maybe we could hang a ten dollar bill (bet that wouldn't last long),
or put up a picture of Aaron Burr---

Thanks,
Anna Belle in Palm Bay

During the 18th and early 19th centuries, the prevalent styles of
quilting would probably have been wholecloth and broderie perse
applique. Patchwork was a later style of quilting that really came
into fashion during the civil war. Wikipedia has some good info on the
history of quilting.

You library might have this one

Encyclopedia Of Pieced Quilt Patterns by Barbara Brackman.

The book has blocks from the 1830's to about 1980.
