Bargello quilts
How forgiving are Bargello quilts? I'm tempted to make one after I
finish the one I'm doing. I'm a pretty relaxed (some might say sloppy) quilter, though -- not just because it's my personality, but also because the only place where I can sew is the kitchen, which means I can't leave things set up (and my three-year-old likes to "help"). If I don't have every intersection precisely right, is the quilt going to look lousy? -- SML |

IF you keep your strips lined up nicely without stretching them as you
sew... IF you dry press them without stretching them into a "smile"... IF your crosswise cuts are fairly square- try to stop and square them as you cut... IF you only shift 1/2 square rather than a whole step... then you won't have any intersecting seams to match and you should be fairly safe. That said, they can be just as fussy and complicated as you want them to be! Good luck and have fun! Leslie & The Furbabies in MO. |

Bargello quilts
Bargello quilts are fun and, to a certain extent, forgiving. I
like the method I learned from Marge Edie. We layered the batting to the backing, then stitched each bargello strip through those. The backing stabilizes the strips and keeps things from getting pulled askew between sewing sessions. Bonus: when we were finished with the strips, we we finished quilting! (Unless we wanted accent quilting, or had borders to quilt.) Doing a google search on Marge Edie and Quilts, I got lots of sites, including: Bargello Designer 32: Software for bargello quilts, Marge Edie ...
