You should see what Leah Fairbanks does with copper mesh:

I think she only has one where you can see the mesh, but the way she
buries it in layers of glass makes it look like an abandoned garden
gate, or a graing in a koi pond. She has some that's more gratelike, and
some where it was the woven copper fabric.
