Where do you stamp?
DH and I are in a temporary rental house right now, so I stamp either
on a card table or the kitchen table. We are house hunting, and every time we look at a house I try to figure out where I'd set up a stamping area. Our agent made fun of us yesterday because DH and I were both (separately) eyeing a heated office room just off of the garage at the house we were viewing, and both of us commented about how we'd use it (me for crafts, DH for his hobbies!). Every issue of The Rubber Stamper features someone's stamping room, and I drool over each issue! I'd love to have an area dedicated to stamping, where I didn't have to pick everything up and pack it away every time. My saving grace is my Crop in Style "The Storehouse" that holds most of my markers, my heatgun, and tons of embellishments, among other things. It's very portable and holds a ton of stuff. Still I wish my stamps and cardstock was easier to access than in big rubbermaid tubs right now. So while I drool and dream, I thought I'd ask... Where do you stamp? What do you wish for? --Barbara |

Where do you stamp?
Barbara: I have a stamping studio that has my supplies and worktable in
it where I do all of my work. I also have the computer in here too so it helps that I can shut the door when we have company in. I used to be set up on the dining table in our smaller house. If you can have a room or even a large closet to house your supplies and call your own then you'll definitely be a happier stamper. If your real estate agent thinks that its funny that you and your husband are eyeing the same room for your hobbies then perhaps you need to find a realtor who takes your hobbies more serious. Can you and your husband share a room if its large enough for both of you? Good luck with your search. Where do you stamp?
WaveJumper, it sounds like your room was fun to put together!
Libby, to be fair our agent does take our hobbies seriously. The house we were looking at had at least 2 rooms that could serve as hobby rooms in addition to the room off the garage. He was just amused that both DH and I immediately each earmarked the one room as "mine." As for sharing a room, we can certainly do that but DH's hobbies take up a lot of space, and DH is, shall we say, less organized than I am :-) So if we didn't have to share that might be a bonus. Plus one of his hobbies is half hobby, half business, so having his own space wouldn't be a bad idea if we had the room to spare. That said we've shared for our entire marriage up to this point, so that works, too! Basically, I'll be happy even to have a corner where I can leave stuff "in progress"! I cross-stitch, too, and a few years ago received a floor stand for Christmas, and that was awesome because my project stays out all the time. I just pull the stand up to the chair and start stitching - no spending 10 minutes dragging out supplies and then packing everything up again when done. --Barbara |
