White gold plating

I seem to remember reading an article in the past that had to do with white
gold electroplating using a computerized set up that closely monitered ph,
voltage, etc., and took two metals out of the same solution (I think it was
gold and palladium). Am I misremembering this? Is there a way to electroplate
white gold onto base or other metals?

I don't know about white gold per se, but there ARE electroforming setups that
can lay down a deposit that can be marked 14K, or 18K. The alloying metals
used are not those used in standard casting alloys, as i recall, but the color
match and metal characteristics end up fine. As you note, it uses computer
controlled power supplies and monitors, etc. And given that electroforming is
a bit more demanding than simple electroplating, if one can electroform
multiple metal alloys, I'd not be surprised to find a setup to electroplate in
a palladium white gold.
