Default Need help with knitting directions

I am making a purse and the pattern says it is a "Woven Transverse
Herringbone". The directions say to "k2, *sl2 wyif, k2; rep". When I do
the sl2 wyif, does that mean to slip as if to knit with the yarn in front?
The next row says to p2, sl2 wyib, p2,etc. Again, do I slip as if to purl
with the yarn in back.

Starla, when they don't say anything specific, whether it is knitwise or
purlwise,

I would slip them knitwise both in first and second row. May be others
would say something else?

I haven't seen you here before? Welcome to the group!!!

On row one, I would slip as if to knit and on row two slip as if to
purl....but without seeing what the finished work is to look like,
it's hard to know if that is correct. Have you done a swatch to
experiment?

It is done with a loopy boucle type yarn, so it is hard to see the pattern.
I just started it and figured I would ask before I got too far. I thought
the same as you.
