How to Produce and Sell Ceramic Art in NYC - All Levels
Participants meet at ceramic studios in Brooklyn, Queens, & Manhattan
where they will learn how artists make a living in NYC. See production
studios and discuss the pros and cons of selling work at craft fairs,
shows and on the Internet with local artisans. First class meets at
CSL ceramic studio.

Dream It… Make It - All Levels
Are you creative, but not sure how to turn your ideas into reality?
Students work individually to create their own treasures. Numerous
techniques on surface and structure are explored. Receive one-on-one
instruction, work at your own pace, and also learn from the group
atmosphere. Slides are shown, exhibitions announced. Bring three
ideas/pictures/dreams to the first class.

Wheel Throwing - Beginner
Learn the basics of working on the potter's wheel and the technical
concerns of functional pottery. Wedging clay and centering on the
wheel are emphasized. Glaze techniques are covered. Bring apron/change
of clothing, old bath towel and $18 for purchase of tool kit to first
class.

If you can comfortably throw a bowl of your choice and make a cup,

Glaze Techniques - Intermediate/Advanced
Learn all about using and mixing glazes. Create effective test tiles,
add stains/colorants, mix, record and analyze results, make and alter
existing recipes and learn about glaze safety. Class will glaze their
own pottery while testing glazes for future use. Bring to first class:
dust mask, notebook, plastic lidded "to-go" containers, masking tape,
permanent marker, change of clothes or apron.

Cone 9 Reduction - Intermediate/Advanced
3rd Avenue Clay, Brooklyn, NY—418 3rd Avenue (between

Explore the possibilities of this reduction technique while you
participate in loading and firing a cone 9 gas kiln. Meet as a class
and work in Brooklyn where you will, learn about glazes and the firing
process. Stack kiln during last class. Benchtime available. Includes
$100 kiln charge.
