ROFL - YES, Kaffe is THAT handsome! To me anyway. And YES, you are
exactly right, the doll lady was Eleanor Bailey! And yes, I am getting work done. Terri doesn't allow ANY slacking, that's for sure. But when you are the person sent to be the Guardian of the Kaffe Fassett display, and to keep people from taking pictures, and then all of a sudden people start showing up to take down signs and get instruction and explanation from Kaffe Fassett, you can't help but stand there with your jaw dropped in awe for a few minutes! And as for meeting people, I see them walking by and I recognize names or I am introduced to them when I am off duty and walking around with new friends I have met, or I am introduced to them at the Check-In Booth, etc. Or, like lunch time, I just see an open seat, go to sit down for lunch, someone invites me to join and I just try real hard not to be shy so I get to meet new people. (Removing tongue from cheek now, LOL) So yes, I guess you are right, sometimes I am a "Welcome To Houston Ambassador" - but that's part of the reason I volunteered to work the show, isn't it? So I would learn quickly and get to meet new people? If you don't stick your foot in, don't ask questions, don't make mistakes, you don't ever learn! That's just me! Hugs, Tina |

Wow! What an exciting day you had.
Hope your back feels better so you can go back for more. marcella In article .com, "Tina" wrote: Oh it was Kathyl! And I was so stupid, I didn't even realize it until after everyone had walked away! DUH! This is the frustrating part about being so NEW! I have met and/or seen some people that would be considered "famous" in the quilt world in the last three days - and didn't even realize it! I certainly would have embarrassed myself by asking for their autograph or something! LOL At least I can't be accused of being a "name dropper"! LOL I met the Queen of Dolls, didn't write her name down, and now I can't even find her name. But she was SOOOOOO awesome. Not just in her appearance and demeanor, but her personality. She was so willing to talk to me, down to earth about sewing and doll making and quilting and she assured me, the farther I get into quilting, next thing you know I too will be wanting to design a doll! LOL I met a wonderful bunch from QuiltArt today that invited me to sit down at their table and have lunch with them. I didn't even know who they were at first but I was thrilled to have the company for lunch. Then when they all got to talking about who they were and where each was from, I was astounded. I met the, THE top award winner of the Husquvarna Exhibition (I can't say here who that was) but this person was also so wonderful and down to earth and acted just like any other quilter I would meet right here on RCTQ! And the piece of work, well let's just say it is beyond, WAY BEYOND award winning in my eyes! The only thing that could make this experience any better for me, is if I could just have you all here with me to ooooooh and aaaaaaaahhhhhhh over every new discovery! And Butterfly, I found two things today, JUST FOR YOU! So after dinner, expect a very special email, with permissions! I am so tired tonight and my back is killing me. I have to call the Dr. tomorrow morning and see if he will call me in a refill of the whopper anti-inflammatory. If not, I'll just keep eating the Aleves all day! LOL This evening, it's hot bath and early to bed. Hugs to all, Tina |

It sounds like you're getting every bit of pleasure possible from this week's adventure -- how wonderful! And how exciting to meet all of these people "up close and personal". It's absolutely terrific to hear that so many of them are supportive and warm, rather than stand-offish and "superior". Yep, and yep, he is cool. I was telling DS about him last night and I
think I am going to take DS and make sure we are there for Kaffe's walk through of his quilts. DS thinks that maybe it's not so cool that he (boys) like to sew and stuff. I want to reassure him that not only is it cool - "boys" are some of the best designers in the world! And yes, Kaffe is definitely a cool "boy"! LOL Hugs, Tina |
