artist did that happen. Who can find another this kind unique arts

....heard it went for big bucks on eBay.


I, too find it hard to get excited over simple mechanical contrivances
in jewelry when the corner grocery store sells much more complicated can
openers.

LOL No, we bought this in about 1964 when my father was stationed in
Guam. I think we actually bought it in the Philippines, though.

Oh, someone carved carefully to make the center part spin, but it's
not novel enough to get really excited.

My base isn't nearly as high, more like three inches, and the carvings
are different. Mine has five balls. They aren't made anymore because
of the embargo on elephant ivory.

They were very popular souvenirs to bring back from Asia in
mid-century.
