Default My 1st Chance to see Beads made!!!

I have been gone for over a week now. I went to my mothers house for a week
with my daughter. It is one of those small towns where everyone knows
everyone. My dad knew the people who owned a rent house next to them and
she makes glass beads. So my dad asked if we can go out to her shop and
watch her make beads.

She gave me a run down on the basics in saftey. She made a couple of beads
that she had on order for a show while I got to watch. She made a bumpy
bead and a bead that was flat with several colors layered on top of one
another. (I am not sure if there is a technical term.) Then placed them in
her kiln. She took me inside to show me some of her other beads she had
finished. Normally she puts in 6 hours at the torch and then makes jewelry
in the afternoon from the beads that she creates. The name of her company
is "Bead Safari." I don't know if any of you have heard of her. She has
sold some things on Ebay, but mainly sells at shows.

OK I am hooked. Since I have seen her all I can think about is this bead
and that bead. Would this technique work. What would happen if I put these
colors together? How could I layer different colors for different effects.
I am so excited. She made it look easy. Although, I know it takes a while
to master.

Let me think about if this is a career choice for me. I have loved playing
with fire since I was very little, and I love beads. hmmmm Yep this seems
cool. I will have to wait maybe a few more years. I have a 2 1/2 year old
at home and don't currently have the space for a studio. My daughter will
be going to school this august for 2 days a week. MAYBE?!?!?!

I will have to consider this as a future business endevour.

This is just my two cents, Amy, so feel free to disregard

If I were you, I would NOT "consider this as a future business endevour."
Instead, I would consider it as something I might want to devote a lot of my
play time to, for starters. Only then, after I saw how much time, effort,
money, etc, I could devote to it, and assuming I was any good at it, would I
consider it for a business endevour.

Well, that's a good point. I do it for a living, and I spend about 60
hours a week working to earn what I used to make working 40 hours a week
in a retail store.

It's not a big moneymaker, but hey, if you love it you love it.
