And while knitting she remembers how she got the yarn. She feels like Barbara would be with her. And that the project she knits is not completely hers. It belongs to Barbara too. YEs, I';ve felt like that, right from my first project. My first project was a scarf for my teddy bear. Before I could finish it, my great grandmother died, and as her belongings were sorted out, I was given a piece of knitting she had done which noone quite knew what it was meant for. It became part of the scarf for my bear, and I have always treasured that as being extra special, because it was both from my granny and the first thing I made myself. (Another thing I have from my granny is a bag, which she crocheted from cut up strips of tights/pantyhose, and lined with corduroy. It has knitted handles. Very simple, but very clever.) -- Kirsten Procter ghoti Current projects; full-length dress with matching jacket, child's jumper, gifts |
