Default Pattern for toque

Im looking for a pattern so that I with not much knowledge of knitting can
knit a toque. I havent had any luck finding a pattern for a men's hat, the
kind that is like a ball and you double it up and it stretches over your
head and you turn the bottom up over your ears. I just want to make a plain
toque all in the same stitch with a fineish stitch.

Thanks for your help

John

Try looking for "watch cap", or for "dubblemossa" or "dupplmussa".

Hi John,

I've got a Pea Cap pattern on this page that is very easy and would work
nicely. Let us know how you do with it.

Here's my simple one:
Using knitting worsted weight wool and size 4.5 mm needles (I prefer DPNs,
but you can do it on two straights if you don't mind sewing it up.), cast on
96 sts and join in a circle. (Obviously using DPNs. LOL) Do k2p2 rib for
about 8 inches. Decrease as follows:
Round 1: k2 tog, work 10 sts in rib pattern already established.
Round 2 (and all even rounds) work in established pattern.
Round 3: k2 tog, work 9 sts in established pattern.
Round 5: k2 tog, work 8 sts in established pattern
Round 7: k2 tog, work 7 sts in established pattern
Round 9: k2 tog, work 6 sts in established pattern
Round 11: k2 tog, work 5 sts in established pattern
Round 13: *k2 tog, repeat around
Break yarn and thread through stitches. Draw up tightly and fasten securely.
I like to make a pompom for the top. Sometimes, I put a contrasting stripe
in the hat as well.
