stretching wool on purpose

I have a lovely Norwegian 100% wool sweater that I want to strech the
arms about 2". I was planning on soaking the arms, laying it flat and
stretching and clamping the arms about 2" longer - then letting it dry.
Will this work?

Will it be permanent?

Any precautions?

Yes. The sleeves will become narrower (there's no magical addition of
fabric, you're simply changing the shape of the existing fabric).

Will it be permanent?

No.


Any precautions?

Be sure to roll the sweater in a towel to absorb excess moisture
before you reblock it.
