Missoni is a fashion house, like Donna Karan or Perry Ellis.

yes,
It is a hat that the company put out this season, and is very popular.

yes,
That's it. It is crocheted though, and they say cable knit.

Helen , I agree with you the brim is crocheted and the body of the hat is
knit .It is neat how they made it with the cable stitch in it. Stella

To me the brim certainly looks crocheted, but just looking it I'd say

body
of the hat is knit.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I think the hat itself may be
afghan stitch crochet with fake cables slipstitched or sewn on later.
Just a theory, mind you.

Yeah, and it looks like those 'cables' are actually braids made of yarn
strands, probably sewn down onto the underlying knit...considering they're
going at right angles to the direction of the knit fabric. g IOW, no real
cabling going on at all, from what I'm seeing. Of course, I could be seeing
strangely. But those do look like braids, instead of a braided cable stitch.
No knit stitches in the braids themselves, just smooth strands of yarn, plaited
- which is kind of a dead giveaway.
