Alligator clips
Recently I was in West Edmonton Mall and saw a kiosk that sold (for
20.00)Clips that girls put in their hair....they had a small alligator clip with a cord about a foot long, wrapped in coloured string??, with a few beads for decoration. Does anyone know where I can buy these clips..it seems that it would be a good seller at the fall craft shows. At a more reasonable price too....thanks...Sharon in SW Ontario Canada |

Yeah, I think so.

Alligator clips would be uncomfortable, damaging to hair, and unattractive. Tina "Marisa2" wrote in message . com... Maybe I'm confused. The ones my mom made me weren't hair wraps. They were barretes with ribbons woven on top (looked like a little braid to me) and streamers of thin ribbon (two ribbons or four, can't remember) hanging strait down, with beads at the end. For a 5 year old these seemed really fun and princess-like marisa ~Candace~ wrote: I never used a clip for a hair wrap--I always knotted it directly to the hair! I suppose the clip would be useful for someone who doesn't want to keep the hair wrap for more than a day or so, cause I always kept mine in for about 3 weeks at a time. LOL Now I wanna go do a couple hair wraps with charms at the end. "Marisa2" wrote in message gy.com... Wouldn't alligator clips get caught in people's hair? My mom used to make me things something like that (when I was in kindergarden!). They had ribbons woven across the tops of the barrettes, and the ribbons hung down and were ended in pony beads. The little metal barrettes she used I think I have seen in sewing shops. marisa2 biig wrote: Recently I was in West Edmonton Mall and saw a kiosk that sold (for 20.00)Clips that girls put in their hair....they had a small alligator clip with a cord about a foot long, wrapped in coloured string??, with a few beads for decoration. I'm probably in the very small minority of people my age who never tried any drugs or did any underaged drinking. Me too...my dh and I figure that we can present both sides to our dd when the time is ripe....he did and suffered and can advise against it, and I didn't, and found other ways to cope, and it was ok. I guess I used food to "drug" myself, and knowing how addictive I found some foods, I was afraid to try something that could be REALLY addicitive. Can't tell you how many friends I dropped because they smoked (young, like in Jr. Hi) and drank/drugged...just didn't wanna be part of that world. I'm an oddity when we are in a gathering and folks start "reminiscing" about "the good old days"! LOL ..(I'm usually the only one who remembers em!!!) Guess I'll have to make it an official me-too post (OMTP, is that right?) My grandfather paid me $100 when I reached 18 to have never smoked. (Not that I ever wanted to - EVERYONE in my family did, it was awful...) Grew up amid much smoking and drinking, as only cocktail parties in the 60's can produce... no interest in either, although I have photographic evidence that I liked beer as a very small child. :-) I don't tolerate alcohol any better than I do antihistamines, so I had my last alcoholic drink at 24 (and can count the total on both hands) - don't like the taste either. Addictive personality, which I now take out on food and shopping for craft supplies... :-) DD and DS both think smoking is disgusting, and I'm quite happy to enforce that. (My dad did finally quit after 40 years - 4 packs a day - and is still around at 72.) DD is getting old enough (11) to be questioning drinking, and has no tolerance for it at all, but we've discussed that it is ok in the right circumstances. Unfortunately, she has a strong family history that says she would have problems with it, so I hope it never goes any farther than I did. Karin (happily hooked on Diet Coke, lo-carb chocolate, yarn, stamps, glass, and beads, not necessarily in that order. And will probably be having to give up the DC in order to get rid of the GERD.) |

In the US, Goody brand barrettes are perfect for the job, I miss being able to buy them. My daughters used to tease me about owning stock in Goody. I also remember when the big fashion trend was all the little covered hair bands, with the hair pulled back and banded at intervals down the ponytail or imitating a french braid. Ahh, memories of being a volunteer hairstylist. -Su |
