Default OT Dog names

Some friends of mine recently got a dog and I met her just today.
I was informed that they had named her Fergie.
Then they had to explain why.
Apparently they have decided she is The Duchess of Yorkie.

Isn't there a rule against naming pets after bad puns?

I suppose I have heard worse, I just have to think for a minute.

My dog is Kenya.

I'm sorry.

When I first met her in the animal shelter, she would catch *everything*
that went through there. She was constantly sick. I was in her cage
every day talking to her- Can ya take another sip of water from my hand?
Can ye eat this medicine? Can ye sit still so we can give ye a shot? Can
ye eat a little more? Can ye get better? She was unnamed for most of
this, and then I caught Jazz calling her Kenya, and I confessed that was
how I thought of her too.

Now of course, it's 10 years later, and it's Kenya get off the couch.
Kenya get down. Kenya sit. Kenya Out! Kenya stop chasing the cats.

She is a black dog, but that's not really a saving grace. Mostly though,
we just call her Dog.

Well, my dog is Mungo MacDuff. Duff meaning black or dark in Scots. Mac is
the appellation for "son of". Since the only thing we know about this dog is
that he's black and had parents, he is MacDuff. Mungo is just because it's
an old family name, but DH wouldn't let me name any of the kids Mungo. ;-)

When we got my favorite dog (mixed breed Lab and Husky), he was the color of
the best milk chocolate. We named him Chocolate Mousse, with the proviso
that we would change the spelling if he grew into his feet. He did, and
Chocolate Moose he remained for the rest of his wonderful life. It's been
15 years since he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I still miss him. A
chocolate bunny tastes good the day you eat it, but a Chocolate Mousse makes
life happier for years.

Our 1st and 3rd dogs name was/is Beash-ka, (no meaning at all), but Beash
means bug in Portuguese.
our 2nd dogs name was Ki-U, which meant What. that was more a joke to ppl
because when they would ask us: "What is her name?" we would answer: "How
did you know her name" or "Your right" and boy did we get a few friends mad
at us.
Now our last dogs name is Aleemuck, which means dog salmon. My favorite
uncle game me that name, was supposed to be for the 2nd Beash-ka, but DH
still wanted to call her that, so she is a junior to the first.
I like naming my dogs in another language than English, 1st it gives us a
job to look thru words in another language, and try to fit it to the dog.
I'm thinking that the next one will be named Nush-nik, which I won't tell
the translation, but some ppl may know it already.

Since my dog's mama was named Mocha Brandy, and he's a dark chocolate
lab, we named him Java. That was in Boston where everyone know what Java
means. Then we moved to Silicon Valley and people still give me a funny
look, wondering why I named my dog after a computer program??? I've told
the family that the next dog will be a light yellow lab named Perl.

Wendy, you got Mungo the same day I got 'Daisy'. Daisy and I divorced
because of irreconcilable differences (she went back into the rescue and
got placed where all are happy) That was a year ago the 3rd of this
month. A couple of months ago I got a very sweet puppy. We are getting
along very well. Her name is Georgia. Took a couple of weeks to come
up with. But she is reddish like Georgia soil and Boz Skaggs was
singing his song about Georgia on the radio and it just seemed to click.
If your kids don't appreciate their dad they should. Mungo great dog
name but not kids! I always wanted to use the name Alois. Czech uncle
had that name and I always liked it. My dh was a no go on that one.

We always had animals with the name of the products my DH marketed. For
example, Chivas, Tuaca, Morgan, Cassis, and my favorite dog of all time
Leroux. We called him rooty-tooty, Roux, rudy anything. He is gone 5 years
and I still miss him. He was 13 and was a joy every day.

My Father's uncle had a WireHaired Terrier in the 30's in Germany and called
him "Leumpi"(sp) I mean rag in German. Very accurate when that breed needs
a haircut. I always wanted to name a dog that. Maybe the next one.
