And the youngest is getting varigated pink, lavendar, and light blue (Red

Unfortunately, the yarn I am using is acrylic and not wool. Though I wish I
had some. I wonder if bamboo would be warm? The locat craft store sells
bamboo yarn and it is soooo incredibly soft, but I don't know if it would be
warm.

The friend for whom i knitted the Bamboo shawl says it is warm ,, i
knitted it in a lace pattern, she doesn`t like wool , and i thought it
would be neater than cotton ,,,,, wraped around her meck [ it is 150
cm long ] it is warm and cozy just the way she likes it ...
mirjam ps [after all it is rather loosely spinned LOADS of air gets
caught in the holes !!!!

Acrylic is, unfortunately, the most affordable and most available in my
area. I would love to try some of the more organic fibers. Bamboo, as I
have mentioned, and I would also like to try some alpaca. I may get
adventurous one day and just buy something not acrylic. : )

I was cruising Hobby Lobby yesterday and they seem to be closing out
quite a few of their yarn lines leaving a lot of empty shelf space. I
found some Bernat Alpaca that hadn't been there before next to one of
the close out yarns. I hope they get in more of the Bernat `good stuff'
like the cashmere, bamboo, soy, and maybe some of Paton's better yarns
too. sigh

it's possible they are clearing out the fall/winter lines to
make room for the spring/summer yarns too.

I tried making a scarf from bamboo yarn. The yarn was soft, silky, and
heavenly. The only problem was, the yarn had a terrible way of
unwinding itself back into its basic fibers and kept breaking on me.
What a mess. I finished the project, but never again!
