Question back at you. Does the pattern give a multiple to cast on? And yes, it amounts to the same thing after the initial group, but the odd notation may also be a matter of what happens at the end of the row. I've seen patterns written that way before and sometimes just concluded it was a matter of being seriously economical with words or a phobia about stars. LOL, very good question, Helen! Let's see if we can get an answer from the original poster... since I already deleted all 'those' messages, I can only guess.... it was.... I think.... Barbara V. This book was translated into English from the Italian, so it may just be a difference in approach. I haven't bought any knitting books or magazines since moving to Italy, so I wouldn't know. (I haven't knitted in quite a while; mostly I crochet now.) It's funny, I bought this book over 10 years ago, without realizing it was a translation, and before I had any idea that I might ever be in Italy. -------- Barbara Vaughan My email address is my first initial followed by my last name at libero dot it. |
