Also, too many
ads

Hear, hear!
It really is getting a bit out of control with the ads.
I realized when B&B first started up they wouldn't make it long with no ads,
but they have gone really far to the other extreme if you ask me.

Still learing here, I love Bead Style. I understand why it may not be
popular among those who have beaded for a while, but for me it is great.

I just got done filling out the survey someone posted here and was

wondering
how others feel about the bead magazines that are currently out there.
I find most of them have too many beginner projects and not enough

interest
for an advanced beader like myself. I think Lapidary Journal has been

really
getting thin and doesn't have near what it used to have. I have been very
disappointed in most to the bead magazines out there. Button and Bead has
really started to get much better then it used to be and is growing with
good projects but still find that most of the things are for beginners and
not enough creative things for someone like myself.
How do you feel about this.

I just went through some of my past issues last night, and I TOTALLY see
what you mean. Before, I had just written it off as something I didn't
like; never gave it much thought. But, that's it, they look amateurish, and
just thrown together.

I agree - too many beginner projects and not enough variety. Also, too

many
ads - I know the mags need the money, but they need to balance that out

by
including more articles. I would like more info on the history of beads,
jewelry fashion, etc.

And it seems to me -- at least lately -- that some of the projects aren't
completely hashed out, either. The design, if not the technical aspects.

They
just seem ---- almost embarrassingly amateurish.

I like BeadStyle, because it has "younger" type jewelry in it. I've just
turned 23, and a lot of the projects in the other magazines don't speak to
my *style*. BeadStyle has a lot that do )

Yeah -- you would think they'd be able to do a *little* better. Sheesh.

Hee hee! I have some younger friends, and whenever I *think* about it,
my mind goes boggle! I used to always be the youngest person in my
circle of friends, so having friends who are *adults* and significantly
younger than me... dude!

Omigosh, this whole conversation reminds me of a few weeks ago, walking
past a neighborhood pub with my friend Fiona. We looked in and decided
against it, because, in my own words, "No way, it's full of 30-something
post-hipsters with kids!"

Fiona (who is 23) looked at me for a long second, until I had to add,
"...and I can get that at home."
