Shipping Query
I've just been to a US site to purchase a 'gadget'. I've never seen
them in UK, so as it seems 'just what I want' and should be light to post, I thought I'd present it to myself. They suggest I get it shipped through a 'Get and American Address' things called BONGO. I've never heard or seen anything about this method. Has anybody here? Are they legit? It's a bona fide shop site, and the product was advertised in a national magazine, so I have no qualms about that, but this, 'give you a spurious address to send things via' seems a bit weird. OTOH, if it worls and can be used for all sorts of things, there could be great savings to be made. Somehow the US seem to allow all sorts of things you would never see around here. Looks pretty scary to me. http://www.bongous.com/ They collect packages at their site and bundle them together for shipping. I didn't read too far but it seems that one would be waiting for a long while sometimes to receive a package if there is some kind of minimum weight or something. Personally, I would have anything shipped the more traditional route
-- regular post or a "real" shipper such as UPS or FedEx. It might cost a wee bit more, but it can be insured, and the package can be tracked, and your chances of actually getting it are as certain as can be. Without insurance and a proved track record, I wouldn't trust it. |

Nel, we have that already here. BG If you really need an American
address one of us will be glad to receive the package and post it on to you. Has been done a lot on this group. I would not really like to use some sort of what seems like it might be a scam thing to get mail. Even reputable shops make goofs, and may not realize the implications of what they might perceive as a good suggestion. G Pati, in Phx.
