I have it. Interweave Press. I am less than enamoured with it, even
though Interweave Press has done an excellent job in other publications. The "stories" are synopsis - shells of what might be possible; the designs watered-down versions of the originals. For instance, the article on an embroidered cabinet (silk and metallic threads on linen c. mid 1600's) was accompanied by a perforated paper box cross stitched in horrid color combinations and overly simplistic design. An article on fine French whitework christening gown was accompanied by a coarsely stitched shadowwork and whipped spider web plus laid filling in overly large thread (not a good combination). I think they got "lost" in this book. Directions are generally poor. Remember: this is just *my* opinion, but it was discussed here before and I think similar comments made by others. Buy one of their Weldon's publications instead. :-) Dianne BDS2pds wrote: Could someone please share what is in this book? |

Thanks for taking the time to reply. With the internet book buying, it is
often difficult to tell by the cover if it is worth it... I have it. Interweave Press. I am less than enamoured with it, even though Interweave Press has done an excellent job in other publications.
