Default Snowed in!!

Here in central Maine, it has been snowing for about 4 hours. 1.5" of
it on the ground. Bring it on as we too are set with food, water,
generator, etc.

All the surrounding schools were closed today with the exception of
ours. 30 minutes after I sent my kid to school on the bus, we
received a call saying they will be sending the kids home at 11:30
after having been fed lunch. So with that, they don't have to make up
the day later on.

Forecasted amounts range between 12-18" with one saying upwards of
24". Our area which depends on snowmobiling as a tourist destination
is hoping for the later amount. The snow has been quite scarce in the
area for the past 2 years. I've seen a few more smiles on the many
people the past few days in anticipation of snow.

So bring it on!!!

Marilyn--who lived in the south for 10 years and defnitely remember
teasing my friends who were living in the north whenever the temps
were too cold. As for me, I'm fine with the cold.

There's a snow emergency here in central New York! Everything is closed,
inc. my workplace which has only closed for 3 times in the 25 years I've
worked there! We got over a foot of snow overnight and the weather
service predicts upwards of 30" by the time this baby is done, with up
to 3" of snow falling per hour today. Winds are predicted to get to 15
to 20 MPH with gusts up to 35 MPH! We've bot over a foot of snow in
the driveway. The road looks like it was plowed but it's hard to tell
LOL

We have power, a backup generator, three tons of wood pellets (for
heat), candles, batteries, food, etc. so we're all set.

To keep this on topic, I'll be spending the day sewing and quiltign!
Yippee!!

Howdy!

Congrats on your snow, Marilyn. g

We're getting snow "flurries" right now, not much to worry about,
so far, the ground is still fairly warm after only 2 days of "cold"
temps (cold for us being somewhere in the 30s g) that the flakes
disappear before they hit the grass.

South Texas doesn't get much snow (only once in the 16 yrs I lived there
and it was devastating for the citrus growers), which is why all
the Winter Texans are happy to leave the frozen North, going south
to "Head for the Border!"

The brushed cotton quilt on the sofa is perfect for cuddling in this
weather, with a small quilt to Finish while listening to a Dick Francis
story on the cd player, a log crackling in the fireplace.
This is my kind of "snowed in." ;-D
We had a few inches of snow 3 yrs. ago on Valentine's Day; it was gone
the next day. I love our Texas winters. ;-D

Ragmop/Sandy--originally from the frozen north, happy to be here today
(Pat: I'm keeping the chocolate!)

P.S. Cold vs. Heat - You can always put ON more layers, BUT there is a limit
to how much you can take off BEG
