Hit the URL below - it's in the Sewing Room! -- Kate XXXXXX Lady Catherine, Wardrobe Mistress of the Chocolate Buttons http://www.diceyhome.free-online.co.uk Click on Kate's Pages and explore! Hi Kate, The 'new' machine looks wonderful! I have an old treadle back home at my Mother's in England (in almost mint condition) that I left there when I emigrated to Canada almost 11 years ago. I would love to be able to afford to ship that beauty over here...maybe one day. With regard to your question about the 'hooky thing' I thought I would post my musings here rather than by email for the benefit/inspiration of others. As a former engineer the design of that part is rather intriguing! It looks as though those little 'legs' at the back are intended to sit on the top face of the machine (just as you have it), however, if that is the case then the 'keyhole slot' in the front looks way too long. You would only need a slot a quarter of that length to achieve the same thing. In the hookything2.jpg photo I can't quite make out whether it is just discolouration on the underside of the 'hook' or whether there is a small recess under there too. Is there a recess there and is the 'hook' part springy at all? I am wondering if it was a clip-on attachment point of some sort, say for instance, for an add-on electric light fitting of some sort. I have seen photos of some old treadle machines that have been fitted with 'vintage' lamps at some point in their lives and they clip on in a similar manner. It is certainly a point of interest. as for the hooky thing, well i checked my machines original instructions = and there is nothing in there with anything vaguely like it! mind you, = mine is a 201k. my machine had lots of water damage to it as well, my dad who refinished = mine tole me to apply a mixture of olive oil and salt to any marks i get = on mine. (and someone did put a mug of tea on there, so i do have a ring = mark arrggh!) cant wait to see it all shiny apparently the bits and pieces like the = belt and oil are very easy to find. kathryn staffs, UK "Kate Dicey" wrote in message = ...
